CORE
COMPETENCE

Our core competence is the isolation and high purification of naturally occurring structures of interest and potentially viable substances.

Both small molecules and complex proteins, and macro molecules, are the focus of our research activities. We modify and derivatize these substances according to the requirements of medical applications, thereby providing patentable new chemical entities.

PRESENT
FIELDS
OF ACTIVITIES

Our main area of interest lies in isolating and highly purifying
small molecules from biogenic raw materials.

Our main area of interest lies in isolating and highly purifying small molecules from biogenic raw materials. However, our projects also concern themselves with complex macromolecules and enzymes (and other functional proteins) from plant and animal based natural raw materials, ie, human blood.

At present, we are working on diterpenes, such as Forskolin, Salvinorin, plant occurring dyes (Hypericin, Curcumin), and on the human peroxidases MPO (Myeloperoxidase) and Eosinophil Peroxidase (EPO).

Hypericin and Pseudohypericin: Isolation from St. John´s Wort, high purification (>99% HPLC) and development of water soluble applications.

PROJECTS

Non invasive diagnosis through visible light, and calculation of fractale dimension

Our latest project is a cooperation with software experts aimed on developing a medical (device) for the status determination of several autoimmune diseases, such as MS, colitis Ulcerosa, Parkinson´s disease ...

Hypericin research

The isolation and high purification of hypericin (> 99 % HPLC) and pseudohypericin from St. John's Wort. Hypericin is an extremely interesting photodynamic active substance which accumulates selectively in tumor cells. The photoactive properties allow for many medical and photophysical application options.

Peroxidase research

We isolate peroxidases from human blood, resulting in highly purified NATIVE human Myeloperoxidase (MPO) and human Eosinophil Peroxidase(EPO). Peroxidases are responsible for the progress of chronic inflammatory and neurodegenerative diseases and fundamental targets for drug research.

Salvinorin research

Salvinorin A is a psychotropic diterpene isolated from Salvia divinorum. No other natural source for this compound has been identified nor has it been synthetically produced. It is a potent non-nitrogenous kappa opioid selective agonist and its hallucinogenic effect can be observed at single doses of 200–500 µg. With regards to Salvinorin B and Salvinorin C, no activity can be oberved.
